Hack Your Health: Our Take on the Latest Netflix Health Documentary

We watched Hack Your Health,  The Secrets of Your Gut on Netflix.

As always with a Netflix doc on food or health we sadly go in with skeptical mind wondering what will be the extreme viewpoint and agenda. But we watch anyway to see what’s out there in the world. While the information presented in Hack Your Health was all things we knew, we both really enjoyed this one and LOVE that this info is being shared with the masses.

One thing they did exceptionally well was explain how the gut works without dumbing it down too much or making it overly complicated. The animations used were not only cute, but a good way to get it visually.

What we got particularly tickled pink about was how they talked about how diets don’t work and that health is not just about dieting for a few weeks and then going back to poor eating patterns. They even mentioned that calories are NOT the end all be all because of how your gut and body respond to food. THANK YOU!!!

We met four people and their stories about what they are struggling with health-wise and how their gut could be playing a role. The people were quite varied from a mom that has struggled with her weight for years, a competitive eater, a Michelin star chef that struggles with disordered eating, and a graduate student that has extreme food sensitivities.

Each person in the film learns more about how their gut health is impacting them and ways to improve it. You’ll just have to trust us that it’s worth the time to watch it (run time was 1 hour).

We explore more details on our podcast, we’d love to have you listen or watch it: here.
