What to Do with Conflicting Health Advice

We’re Here to Help

Most people come to us confused about what is "good or bad" for them. There's so much noise about nutrition and health all around us. How can you possibly know what works or is right?

I'm here to tell you a brief story and I hope you will read it and take this into the depths of your soul.
Beth and I went to a health-supportive culinary school where we learned how to use food as medicine. We studied Ayurveda, an ancient Indian healing modality. There are thousands of years of documentation of this practice and much of this philosophy can be seen in modern health trends, like drinking golden milk or using ghee.

Then, we studied Macrobiotics, essentially the Japanese version of Ayurveda. Another way of living optimally, with thousands of years of practice, not to be confused with Chinese medicine. You see macrobiotic trends when you see grain bowls on the menu or the broadened use of sea greens.

We also learned about raw foods. This is the world of zoodles, smoothies, and green juice.

The thing is that none of these amazing practices agreed with each other.

Every person in class nearly had an existential crisis during this time. Maybe it was all of the growth that came from committing to rigorous schedules and learning new things.
But also, we were being taught TOTALLY CONFLICTING modalities. How could this be?
Isn't there just one way?! The right way?! There were tears. Soo many tears.

Here's THE answer you don't want to hear.
There is no one right way to feel better, to lose weight, to get your head on straight, and live your life.
There are many paths to feeling amazing.
You can choose for that to be overwhelming or it can be beautiful and abundantly juicy with options.

What matters is what YOU decide. What do YOU want to believe? What can you commit to? Can you allow yourself to explore? To learn to trust and love yourself?

This is the work.

Most people want a plan. They want us or someone to give them THE way, the right answer.

Our mission is to teach you what you need to know so you can chart your own path and create your own plan.
We're here to give you a safe space to reveal your fears and hesitations and to coach you how to face them so you can move forward. And yes, we include science along the way.

Our goal for all of our clients is to learn how to love and trust yourself. If you can do that, then the actions you take will be "right." When you take action out of fear, distrust, or self-loathing you turn down a path that leads to more of the same. More diets, more confusion, less commitment, and undesired results.

We'd like to offer you a better resolution. Can you start asking yourself "why?" Why do you want to eat the cookie? Why do you want to drink more wine? Is it from love or is it from something else?

Nobody said loving yourself is easy. Loving yourself sometimes means saying no. Setting boundaries. Feeling urges and feelings without fixing them. Showing up for yourself when you'd rather not. The practice of loving yourself means becoming empowered to do what aligns, not what is easy. It means finding compassion for all the parts of you especially when you take action that's not aligned. You will fail because you are human. The practice is not about becoming perfect. Perfection doesn't exist! The practice is expanding your ability to see yourself, your thoughts and feelings so you can carve more consciousness into your being. The practice is about deciding to stop living on auto-pilot. To face yourself and do what it takes to be responsible for your choices and your results. Adulting at the highest level.

Our wish for you this year is to walk towards this path. Lean into it. Discover what happens when you stop being confused, just commit to something, and show up for you and you alone, just because.

Our wish for Path Nutrition is to serve as many people as possible. We've committed to showing up, creating space, and walking alongside anyone who decides this way will serve them.
