An Ode to Food

Oh Food I love you so.  I even love some your friends, "food like stuff"

You have always been there for me when I needed to feel comforted, to celebrate, to be miserable. Really just to be there for all the emotional highs and lows.

It's magical the ways you are can be fresh & sweet or so heavy & creamy or crispy & smoky.  The way you make my neurotransmitters light up with joy when I have had one or all of those magical tricks play out in my senses.  All these wonderful combinations make up for when you pretend to be tasty in that grapefruit or dill pickle form.

You have been patient when I have taken thousands of pictures of you over the years, during your raw and artistic phase or those times where I over styled you on a plate to share with others.  For that I am both grateful and sorry, but I can't say I won't do it again.

Oh Food I love you so.  You are so clever with all the ways you can be interpreted and all the places that you have traveled to and fro. You are so brave to be so willing to try so many new things.

I know not everyone treats you with the love and respect that you deserve, but I work hard day in and day out to make sure that one day they will.

And best of all Food, you have brought people together to love each other, to appreciate each other, to hear each other. The way you unselfishly continue to bring people together is why I truly love you so.  Almost all of my best memories and friends have revolved around you.  In fact, I'm having a hard time writing this without crying with gratitude.

Oh Food, I love you so. Thank you for loving me too.
